Janice St.Cyr has been painting for more than 30 years. She started
painting after the birth of her first child by taking oil painting
lessons in a private home. Continuing to study, she took courses
in watercolors from a local Maine artist, Charlene Lee. She is currently
painting in acrylics on wood and/or canvas focusing on the American
Primitive Folk Art Style.
She loves the simplicity of this self-taught style inspired by
the work of American Folk Artist, Warren Kimble. Her favorite subjects
to paint are saltbox colonial houses and farm animals, especially
sheep and cats. Her folk art hangs in folk art collectors homes
in both America and Europe.
Janice lived in the state of Maine most of her life before retiring
to Ocala, Florida in 2002 where she realized a lifelong dream of
painting everyday in her own studio. She travels every summer to
her cabin in the Maine woods where she has a loft studio. She feels
she has the best of both worlds and is blessed everyday by doing
what she loves. She lives with her husband, Paul and 2 feline friends,
Nicholas and Noelle. You can contact her by email at: contact@cabinwoodcreations.com.
Custom pet portraits and folk art paintings of your home are available.
